Chicken wing snack fuels kitchen fire

It was an early morning snack gone awry that brought firefighters to a kitchen fire early Wednesday.

Nicholas Dale Hoke, 24, reportedly told Clearwater Fire and Rescue investigators he was cooking chicken wings around 4:30 a.m. in the oven in his apartment unit when he fell asleep and the wings caught fire.

The blaze reportedly spread to the kitchen. Firefighters pulled Hoke from his Town Place apartment, 2545 NE Coachman Road, and treated him for minor injuries.

The fire, which was contained within the kitchen, was put out without further incident.
