One rescued from burning boat off St. Pete Beach

ST. PETE BEACH — A man was rescued from a boat fire Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. The boat was a 25- to 30-foot sailboat, dispatchers said, and was a few miles offshore. A person onboard was able to escape without injury, officials said.

"A good Samaritan picked him up," said Petty Officer Sondra-Kay Kneen of the U.S. Coast Guard.

No other details were released.
