RIVERVIEW — A fire left two people homeless and killed a dog and cat early Tuesday at a Riverview home.
The blaze broke out about 9 a.m. inside a recreational vehicle that had been converted into a mobile home at 8513 Night Owl Drive, according to fire officials. When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in flames, which were moving close to two adjacent homes. Two people who were inside when the fire started got out safely, officials said.
Fire crews quickly doused the blaze before it damaged the other homes, officials said. A dog and cat were later found dead inside the heavily damaged home, having succumbed to smoke and flames, authorities said. The cause was under investigation.
The American Red Cross offered assistance in finding temporary shelter for the two displaced residents.
