Seminole woman dies from injuries suffered in house fire

SEMINOLE — A woman injured when her house caught fire early Saturday morning has died. Shannon J. Mera, 42, died Sunday at the hospital from injuries she suffered in the blaze, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors called 911 about 5:30 a.m. Saturday to report that her home at 13475 San Rafael Drive was on fire, according to deputies. Firefighters pulled her from the home and put out the blaze.

Mera was taken to the Indian Rocks Road campus of Largo Medical Center.

The fire appears to have begun in the master bedroom, according to deputies. Investigators have ruled out anything suspicious, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
