St. Pete police: People making hashish oil cause explosion

ST. PETERSBURG — Two people were injured in an explosion Monday evening that occurred as a group was making hashish oil, St. Petersburg police said.

St. Pete Fire Rescue was summoned to 921 1/2 Yale St. N at about 7:40 p.m., where they found that two men and a woman had been inside making the oil when it exploded. The blast blew out an exterior wall and caused heavy damage to an interior wall, police said.

Police on Monday night did not release the names of the people involved. One of the injured was taken to the Tampa General burn unit with serious burns. The other injured person was treated at the scene for minor wounds, police said.

Police said no arrests had been made as of late Monday night, but criminal charges are possible in connection with the blast.
