TAMPA — A fire early Saturday morning destroyed a vacant building in Sulphur Springs, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
Crews responded to the fire at 915 E Grant Ave. at about 3:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the building. Flames in the main room of the building were quickly extinguished before more flames were discovered in the back, according to Fire Rescue. Those flames spread throughout the structure and additional units were called to the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The building was formerly the Harbor Club. Before that, it was the Sulphur Springs Tourist Club, which featured dining and entertainment. The city of Tampa was on scene Saturday morning to demolish it.
