Summer rains allow Pasco County to lift burn ban

DADE CITY — Citing the recent rains, Pasco County commissioners Tuesday lifted the burn ban that prohibited residents from burning yard trash and having bonfires.

The ban was enacted three weeks ago as dozens of large wildfires burned across Florida. Since then the summer rainy season has begun, including a good soaking Friday that brought about 4.5 inches of rain to west Pasco and about 2.5 inches of rain to east Pasco.

State fire officials have eased restrictions such as those on campfires in state parks.
