Tampa apartment fire caused by hot stove, investigators say

TAMPA — Investigators determined that an object left on a hot stove caused the fire that left at least three families without a home Sunday and an apartment building ruined, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

A burner on a stove top at the Brookside Apartments, 8409 Del Rio Way, was left on, Fire Rescue said, which provided a heat source that started the fire.

Damage is estimated to be more than $150,000.
