Clearwater condo fire displaces three people

CLEARWATER — Three people are safe after a fire destroyed their condo early Monday.

A fire was reported at 2087 Edgewater Drive about 12:30 a.m., according to a Clearwater release.

Flames had consumed the roof of the condo and were reaching about 15 feet into the air when firefighters arrived, the release stated. The fire took about 30 minutes to put out.

The three residents, who will need to find another place to live, were outside when officials arrived, and no one was injured. The cost of the damage had not been determined Monday morning.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic of the two-story condo, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
