LARGO – Several blocks of Ulmerton Road were closed to traffic Tuesday morning as emergency services officials worked to repair a ruptured gas main.
Firefighters were called 8440 Ulmerton Road just after 10 a.m. Construction workers accidentally broke open a gas pipe, according to Pinellas County's emergency dispatch center.
Officials closed a stretch of the roadway along Ulmerton between Starkey Road and Wild Acres Road.
No one was injured or evacuated from the busy thoroughfare that runs through Largo and Clearwater. It was unclear when the road would reopen to auto traffic.
