RIVERVIEW — A woman was escaped but her dog died in an early morning fire Sunday that engulfed two large pole barns and a shed, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

Firefighters responded at 1:50 a.m. to 13020 Lincoln Road and found both pole barns and the shed engulfed.

A woman was sleeping inside a trailer in one of the pole barns, but was able to safely get out before fire crews arrived, spokesman Ronnie Rivera said. Her small dog was not able to get out and died in the fire.

The pole barns and shed, including the trailer and a boat, were a total loss, Rivera said. Firefighters extinguished the flames within 30 minutes and prevented damage to surrounding structures.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross was called to help the displaced adult with food, shelter and clothing.
