Woman treated for smoke inhalation in Clearwater fire

CLEARWATER — A woman was hospitalized early Thursday after being rescued from an apartment fire.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze in a three-story building at 845 Gulfview Blvd. around 3 a.m. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor bedroom.

The 56-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, officials said.

The fire was contained to Unit 109, where officials said the blaze originated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross will help the displaced family.

No further information was immediately available.
