SPRING HILL — A woman at an assisted living facility died Saturday after she caught fire, according to Hernando County Fire Rescue.

Preliminary reports indicated the fire started when Marcella Blair, 73, was smoking while using oxygen tubing therapy, according to fire rescue officials.

Firefighters found Blair on the ground in the fetal position about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Assisted Living Facility, 8239 Cessna Drive. Third-degree burns covered a majority of her body, according to firefighters, who arrived within five minutes of receiving the call. Blair had no pulse.

Hernando County sheriff's deputies and state fire officials were continuing their investigation this week.
