Worker cutting trees critically injured in high-voltage accident

TAMPA — A worker cutting trees was critically injured Thursday after coming in contact with high-voltage power lines, officials said.

The worker, identified as Trent D. Gobble, 33, was in a lift bucket when the accident happened at 1923 E Henry Ave. about 9:30 a.m. Firefighters rescued the 33-year-old tree trimmer from the bucket.

The power line he touched carries more than 7,000 volts, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

Gobble, of Wimauma, was taken to Tampa General Hospital and listed in critical condition.

He is employed by Ameriscape Services. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the accident.

No further information was immediately available.
