Firefighters find dead body inside burning car in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — A man's body was found inside a burning car parked on the side of Interstate 275 on Saturday, authorities said.

Pinellas County Fire Rescue got a call at 9:51 a.m. about a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice in the northbound emergency lane of I-275 just north of Interstate 175.

Crews found the man's body after they doused the blaze.

He had extensive burns and officials haven't yet confirmed his identity, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to call FHP Cpl. Douglas Guy at (813) 558-1800, ext. 31571.
