I-75 in southern Hillsborough reopens

TAMPA — Heavy fog caused authorities Sunday morning to temporarily close a segment of Interstate 75 in southern Hillsborough County.

The Florida Highway Patrol reopened the stretch, from Gibsonton Drive to the Manatee County line, around 8:30 a.m.

But troopers cautioned drivers that patches of fog were still lessening visibility there and on Interstate 4.

The fog was expected to lift as the day gets warmer.

Sunday's forecast calls for a high of about 86 and a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly late in the day and in the evening, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker.
