Forecasters are advising beachgoers to watch out for dangerous rip currents around Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service issued an alert about choppy, breaking waves that could heighten the risk for rip currents along Florida's west coast through Wednesday night.
"More frequent rip currents may pull even strong swimmers out into deeper waters," the National Weather Service said.
Rip currents are channels in which water flows quickly away from the shore and pulls swimmers away from land. National Weather Service forecasters advise anyone caught in a rip current to stay calm and swim parallel to the shore to escape the flow.
