CLEARWATER — Four people were rescued Sunday morning after their 23-foot vessel capsized 8 miles west of Clearwater, the Coast Guard reported.
A distress call came in at 9:48 a.m., prompting a response from Coast Guard Station Sand Key. The boaters were taken back to the station. The boat has been marked as a hazard to navigation.
The rescued party told the Coast Guard that their boat sustained a crack in the hull and rapidly took on water, according to Coast Guard spokesman Michael De Nyse.
No injuries were reported, which De Nyse attributed in part to life jackets worn by all four boaters.
