Gas leak shuts down part of Ulmerton Road

Part of Ulmerton Road was shut down for about two hours after a gas leak was reported Tuesday afternoon, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

About 12:40 p.m., a gas line started to leak after it was damaged by construction drilling.

Ulmerton Road from Tall Pines Drive to Belcher Road was shut down in both directions and one building was evacuated, the Sheriff's Office said.

TECO workers shut down the gas valves and were working on repairs Tuesday afternoon.

Ulmerton Road was expected to reopen by 3 p.m.
