Girl, 8, seriously injured by dog bite in Port Richey

An 8-year-old girl suffered serious injuries when she was bitten by a dog in Port Richey Friday.

A chocolate lab had been acting aggressively toward children, so the family kept it in the back room. The young girl tried to get a toy from the room when the dog attacked her Friday evening.

When emergency responders arrived the girl had bite marks across her face, on her nose and eye. She may need reconstructive surgery, authorities said.

The girl was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. The incident occurred at 10801 Corinth St., Pasco emergency officials said.
