Hernando County honors fallen deputies

The Hernando County Sheriff's 2014 Fallen Deputies Remembrance took place Thursday morning at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office in Brooksville. Three fallen deputies were honored: Deputy Lonnie Coburn, who was killed Feb. 21, 1978; Capt. Scott Bierwiler, who died Feb. 19, 2009; and Deputy John Mecklenburg, who was killed July 3, 2011. Members of surviving families had the opportunity to place a rose on a wreath in memory of their loved ones during the ceremony.
