A 66-year-old man was killed in Westchase on Sunday morning when his motorcycle was struck by a van.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, at about 9:00 a.m., a 2007 Yamaha FJR motorcycle was stopped behind a Nissan Rogue in the southbound lane of Race Track Road at the intersection of Countryway Boulevard.

A Chrysler Town & Country van approaching both vehicles failed to stop, struck both and pushed each into the intersection.

The impact also caused the motorcycle to strike the Nissan. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and landed in the middle of the intersection.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

The name of the motorcyclist has not yet been released because the next of kin has not been notified.
