Hillsborough deputies seek missing elderly man

TAMPA — Deputies are searching for an elderly man who got out his son's car near the Veteran's Expressway on Wednesday and hasn't been seen since.

Russell Borger, 71, of Weeki Wachee, is described as a white male, 5-foot-9, 140 pounds with gray hair who was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve shirt.

He got upset with his son as they rode together on Bellamy and Ehrlich roads near the Veteran's Expressway and got out of the car, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Borger then went into a wooded area to avoid his son, who reported him missing at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies tried calling Borger on a cell phone but he said he didn't want to talk and hasn't answered again.

Anyone with information about Borger's whereabouts can contact the Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
