LARGO — A 31-year-old Largo man was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday.

David Lee Carter died after he was struck by a vehicle on Seminole Boulevard about 2 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Carter was on foot in the northbound lanes just south of 119th Avenue N when he was hit by a vehicle traveling north. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver did not stop, and investigators have not been able to identify what type of vehicle hit Carter, the FHP said in a news release.

The northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard were closed for about two hours after the crash.

The Highway Patrol asks anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the driver to call FHP Cpl. Jim Atwood at (727) 570-5010, ext. 309.
