Largo police Chief Lester Aradi presented his department's Officer of the Year Awards at the city's commission meeting Tuesday, naming Jorge Alameda the officer of the year, Debbie Anderson as the civilian employee of the year, and Ron Wallace police volunteer of the year.
Each of those honored has built an impressive resume.
In 2009, Alameda arrested 148 impaired drivers and has arrested more than 350 drivers for driving under the influence in his career.
"His highly commendable work ethic is the envy of other supervisors," Aradi said.
Anderson was integral in assigning officers to off-duty employment opportunities and setting up vacation home watches. Wallace, who has served more than 4,000 hours since becoming a volunteer in 2002, was involved in nearly every volunteer emergency call last year.
