Largo teen shoots himself in head during game of Russian roulette

LARGO — A 17-year-old Largo boy was hospitalized Friday night after he shot himself in the head during a game of Russian roulette, officials said.

Pinellas County sheriff's deputies were called to a home at 11133 111th Way at about 7:45 p.m. for a reported shooting.

A preliminary investigation found that Thorin R. Montgomery, 17, was playing Russian roulette with three of his friends — ages 16, 18 and 19 — on the back porch of his home, authorities said. Montgomery was the first to have a turn.

He pointed a .38-caliber revolver at his head and fired, authorities said.

Montgomery was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Saturday, officials said. Deputies were investigating the shooting.
