Lithia woman dies in Manatee crash

DUETTE — A Lithia woman died Wednesday morning after a car crash on State Road 62 in Manatee County.

At 8:07 a.m., Magali Castaldi, 31, was driving south on County Road 39 when she began to make a left turn onto State Road 62, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

She drove into the path of Gary Cornthwait's westbound commercial truck and was hit on the driver's side, troopers said. Castaldi died before she was taken to a hospital.

Cornthwiat, 49, of Bradenton, was not injured. No charges have been filed.
