Local firefighter dies after motorcycle collides with car in Seminole

SEMINOLE — A local firefighter who was in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a car Nov. 20 has died, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

James G. Fehl, 40, passed away at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday.

Fehl, 40, was westbound on Bay Pines Boulevard about 10 p.m. Sunday when he collided with a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Shane M. Ross, 20, deputies said.

Ross was turning east from the parking lot of a strip shopping center at 9685 Bay Pines Blvd. when Fehl's 1987 Honda motorcycle collided with the car, deputies said.

Fehl, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle, deputies said. Passersby administered CPR until paramedics arrived, deputies said.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
