Lutz bicyclist hit by car last week dies

LUTZ — The 24-year-old Lutz bicyclist who was hit by a car Nov. 15 has passed away.

Robert Bruce Haines II suffered severe head injuries in the crash on Livington Avenue, said his mother, Nancy Haines. He died Monday.

Deputies say Haines was hit as he did a U-turn on Livingston near Andrea Lynn Drive. He cut in front of traffic and narrowly missed one vehicle before a 1993 Ford Thunderbird hit him.

Robert Haines had epilepsy and used a bicycle to get around, his mother said.
