DUNEDIN — Pinellas County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday identified the man found floating in a Dunedin canal as the man who was reported missing last week.

Charles P. Morris, 63, was last seen leaving his home on June 20 with his dog around 9 p.m., according to the Sheriff's Office. He was reporting missing the next day after his dog returned home without him.

Detectives were searching for Morris when his decomposed body was found about 3:48 p.m. Monday in a canal behind Cedar Creek Mobile Home Park, 605 Michigan Blvd.

Morris suffered from a memory-loss related illness and had trouble keeping his balance, deputies said. He was also prone to falling. Morris left behind his wallet and cell phone when he left his home. Detectives said his death does not appear to be suspicious.
