CLEARWATER — A 46-year-old motorcyclist died after he lost control of his bike late Wednesday on Interstate 275, authorities said.
Randall Dean Shoutd of Clearwater was riding north in a 2006 Suzuki about 9:15 p.m. when he exited off Interstate 275 at 118th Avenue N, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. As Shoutd rode along the exit ramp, he lost control of the motorcycle and hit the inside barrier wall. The impact threw Shoutd from the bike and onto the road's left shoulder, authorities said. The motorcycle came to rest at the end of the exit ramp.
Shoutd, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, troopers said. He later died at the hospital.
The crash remained under investigation Friday.
