One killed in Hernando County ATV crash

BROOKSVILLE — One man was killed and another was critically injured when an all-terrain vehicle collided with a sport utility vehicle Saturday night.

Around 10:20 p.m., the Artic Cat ATV was heading south on Goodstone Drive while a 2002 Ford SUV was heading east on Umbrella Rock Street, according to a preliminary report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The ATV drove into the path of the SUV and hit the left rear of the SUV, which caused the SUV to overturn, resulting in injuries to the driver and five passengers. All occupants in the SUV were transported to the hospital with minor to incapacitating injuries.

The identifications of the ATV driver and passenger are unknown because neither had identification on them, authorities said. One of the ATV occupants was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was transported to Pasco Regional Hospital with critical injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
