Orient Road inmate found unresponsive, dies

TAMPA — An Orient Road Jail inmate died Thursday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Sierra Jo Isom was arrested Sunday on charges of theft from a person 65 or older, uttering a forged instrument and violation of probation for grand theft. The Sheriff's Office said she had been receiving ongoing medical care at the jail for pre-existing medical conditions that it did not disclose. She was found unresponsive in her cell just after 10 p.m.

Medical care was administered at the jail until an ambulance arrived and transferred Isom to Tampa General Hospital, where she died just after 11 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said. The cause of death was not released.

This story has been changed to correct an error about the time of death.
