MELBOURNE — Police in Florida have re-opened the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport following a breach of security that resulted in some flight delays.

Airport spokeswoman Lori Booker tells news outlets a student pilot boarded a passenger plane in the maintenance facility early Thursday, causing the lockdown.

The Melbourne Police Department tweeted that the person who boarded the plane has been taken into custody.

Booker said officials conducted a sweep of the airfield before re-opening the airport. She says no passengers were in the area when the student boarded the plane. She didn't say what kind of aircraft the suspect boarded.

Melbourne is 70 miles (112 kilometers) southeast of Orlando.
