Deputies say dog bit 10-month-old baby

Pasco County authorities on Friday were investigating a report that a 10-month-old baby was attacked and bitten by a neighbor's pit bull, sheriff's officials said.

The incident occurred about 2 p.m. at a home in the 2100 block of Ranchita Trail in Holiday, authorities said. The baby's mother was outside the home chatting with a neighbor when they heard the dog inside growling, authorities said. When they came inside, they found the dog biting the baby on the head and shoulder.

The baby was taken to a local hospital. Authorities did not release the child's name or condition.

Pasco County Animal Control took custody of the dog and held it for observation, officials said.

Further details were not immediately available.
