Kids lead deputies to wanted man

It was the mouths of babes that got Shane Dotson busted.

Deputies had a warrant for Dotson's arrest on a violation of probation charge for driving with a suspended license. When they pulled up Tuesday to the house at 5625 Broadway Ave., deputies were greeted in the driveway by a group of small children, who said Dotson was inside. The children then went in to get him, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report states.

A few moments later, the children came back out and told the deputies, "He's trying to hide from you."

The deputies rounded the house and found Dotson, 43, hopping a fence and jogging through a neighbor's yard, the report states. The deputies shouted for him to stop and arrested him on an added charge of resisting arrest without violence.

He remained Wednesday in the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $1,650 bail.
