Pasco deputies arrest man in connection with bank robbery

HUDSON — It took four deputies and a burst of pepper spray to arrest a man Friday they say robbed a bank a day earlier of more than $2,000.

Steven Tanner, 49, tried to run away after a deputy spotted him near Bayleaf Drive, according to an arrest report from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. The deputy tackled him, but Tanner resisted, reports said.

Three other deputies were needed to subdue him, even after the first sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.

On Thursday, Tanner was unarmed when he walked into the Wells Fargo Bank at 14048 U.S. 19 and handed a teller a note that read, "Give me 100, 20, 50," reports said. The teller gave him some money. He said "give me more," so the teller gave him $2,000, the report states.

He then ran away, reports said. No one was hurt.

Charged with bank robbery and resisting arrest, Tanner was being held in Land O' Lakes jail Friday.

BALTIMORE — We know what the Rays look like this year: a team that had enough talent but too many flaws, in construction and performance, and in the next few days will be officially eliminated from a wild-card race it had a chance to win but let slip away.

Adeiny Hechavarria, high-fiving Lucas Duda, seems likely to be brought back.
