The body of an elderly man was found inside a car in a canal in Hudson.

HUDSON — Authorities are investigating the death of a person whose body was found Friday morning in a car that had been submerged in a canal.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office dive team is working to recover the body. No further details are available about the deceased.

The canal, owned by the Gulf Island Beach and Tennis Club, is near the 5900 block of Sea Ranch Drive.

Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle could have been in the canal for a number of days, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
