Pasco woman rented laptop, then pawned it, deputies say

PORT RICHEY — Melissa Sturgeon rented a laptop from Buddy's Home Furnishings on March 23. Later that day, deputies say, she walked into Golden Nugget Pawn Shop on U.S. 19 and pawned it. Sturgeon, 30, got $100 for the recently rented Acer laptop, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrest report. A warrant was later issued for her arrest, and deputies served her with the warrant on Monday as she sat in the Land O'Lakes jail on unrelated charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and failing to appear in court on a petty theft charge. Sturgeon, who lives in Port Richey, remained at the jail Tuesday in lieu of $10,500 bail.
