ST. PETERSBURG — Authorities said a Pinellas deputy sustained minor injuries after another car crashed into his cruiser on Gandy Boulevard Thursday night.

The deputy, Jason Walker, 38, was driving his marked 2005 Chevrolet Impala east on Gandy in response to a call, blaring his sirens and lights, around midnight, investigators said.

They said his Impala was struck on the right side by another vehicle as Walker slowed to cross the intersection at Gandy and Fourth Street N.

Hae Kim, 54, of Tampa, was driving his 1997 Oldsmobile north on Fourth Street when he crashed into the cruiser, investigators said. He was not injured.

Kim told investigators he was heading home from work.

Walker, who has been with the Sheriff's Office for about 13 years, was treated and released from Bayfront Medical Center.

The Sheriff's Office has not determined if it will press charges, saying the crash remains under investigation.
