Police: Clearwater homeless man's death not suspicious

CLEARWATER — A homeless man found dead in Island Estates over the weekend does not appear to be the victim of foul play, authorities said Tuesday.

The body of John E. Martin Jr., 63, was discovered by a woman walking her dog behind 650 Island Way about 8:15 a.m. Saturday, according to Clearwater police.

The woman, who was not identified, called police after she found Martin lying face down on the shore by the boat docks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
