Police find body of missing 77-year-old man in Hillsborough River

TAMPA — The body of a 77-year-old man who had been missing since Thursday was found Sunday morning in the Hillsborough River, police said.

Richard Law, of 2313 Ridgewood Ave., disappeared from his home without his wallet or keys, Tampa police said. They said he had no history of dementia and there appeared at the time to be no signs of foul play.

He was supposed to leave the next day for a cruise with his wife, police said.

A dive team using sonar found his body at 11 a.m. Sunday in the water not far from his house, between the Columbus and Boulevard bridges, police said.

The Medical Examiner will conduct the autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
