Police searching for elderly man who disappeared from St. Petersburg apartment

ST. PETERSBURG — Police are searching for an elderly man who disappeared from a relative's apartment early Friday.

Antonio Hunt, 88, has dementia and speaks only French when frightened, police said.

He is black, about 160 pounds and 5 foot 11, officials said. He wears his gray hair combed back, and has a gray mustache. He was last seen wearing a black polo, black pants, black socks and no shoes.

Hunt lives in Orlando but has been visiting relatives here, police said.

Hunt's granddaughter last saw him at about 3 a.m. Friday. He was sleeping on a couch at the family's home at 200 78th Ave. N., Apt. 90.

When the woman woke up at 7 a.m., police said, Hunt was gone.

Officials said Hunt, who is originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, also knows English. He is not familiar with St. Petersburg, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (727) 893-7780.

Perhaps this guy should have just used a zoom lens.

A video that was posted June 17 on Facebook by Ben Boukari Jr. shows the gator lurching at the photographer, causing him to stumble behind some shrubbery as it chomped at a tripod and rested near his backpack before staring him down. [Facebook]
