PINELLAS PARK — A terminally ill woman and her husband were found dead under suspicious circumstances inside their home Friday evening, police say.

The couple, found at 6840 43rd St. N around 6:56 p.m., remain unidentified, but Pinellas Park police spokesperson Sgt. Michael Lynch said the man and woman were both in their early 60s and that detectives suspect it to be a murder-suicide.

He said the woman had been living at Lexington Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Petersburg for treatment of an unidentified illness, but visited her husband at their home sometimes to get away and have alone time. When a shuttle from the center came to pick her up after their visit Friday, Lynch said, no one answered the door.

"The driver saw a note on the door that said 'call the family' and listed phone numbers," he said. "So he did, and the family came and called police."

Lynch said detectives will continue to investigate to determine the cause and circumstances of the deaths.
