PORT RICHEY — Several ground depressions that opened up Friday near homes in the Gulf Highlands subdivision have been stabilized, Pasco County officials said Monday.

A private geotechnical company filled in the depressions with sand and grout over the weekend. The company was on the scene when the holes opened up Friday, completing repairs on a home that had sustained previous sinkhole damage.

Two homes in close proximity to the holes were still under voluntary evacuation Monday. One of the homes is rented, officials said, and the landlord is providing alternate housing to the tenants while work is being done.

A third home near the depressions was vacant.

Utility crews shut off water last week to at least one home, according to officials, though the depressions did not damage utility lines.
