TAMPA — About 5,500 Tampa Electric customers woke up without power Monday morning. Power was back on at about 7:30 a.m.
It went out between Busch Boulevard and Waters Avenue west of Interstate 275 sometime before 6 a.m., said TECO spokesman Rick Morera.
That included Chamberlain High School and Twin Lakes Elementary.
Morera said an insulator supporting a transmission line broke at a power pole on Waters Avenue, east of N Boulevard.
Power was restored by switching customers to another circuit while crews worked to repair the line.
