Retired NYPD officer accused of larceny
A retired New York City police officer was arrested Tuesday at his home, accused of claiming a fake disability and collecting benefits for it.
Louis Hurtado, 60, faces charges of grand larceny and being a fugitive from justice out of New York. Pasco deputies executed an arrest warrant after being contacted by Social Security Administration special agents and the U.S. Marshals Service, a Sheriff's Office spokesman said.
Hurtado remained in the Land O'Lakes jail on Tuesday pending extradition. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
