Safety Harbor motorcyclist critically injured in crash

OLDSMAR — A 54-year-old Safety Harbor woman was seriously injured when she was thrown from her motorcycle Sunday evening, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Cheryl Santucci was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa with life-threatening injuries. She underwent surgery for head injuries, deputies said.

Deputies responded to the crash on Forest Lakes Boulevard near State Road 580 about 6:18 p.m.

Deputies said Santucci was southbound on Forest Lakes Boulevard when her 1984 Harley-Davidson hit a curb as it left the road. The bike flipped and she was thrown.

Santucci was not wearing a helmet.
