NEW PORT RICHEY — An 84-year-old woman suffered minor injuries when her vehicle collided with a bus carrying nine middle school students Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The students and bus driver, 64-year-old Alfred Masse, were not injured. The driver of the other vehicle, 84-year-old Maria Giordano of New Port Richey, was not hospitalized.

The crash happened at about 7 a.m. at Rowan Road and Plathe Road.

The bus was turning left onto Rowan from Plathe when Giordano's 1997 Mercury Cougar ran into the left side of the bus in the intersection.

No witnesses saw the crash. Since each driver gave conflicting statements as to who had the right-of-way at the stop light, no charges were filed Friday, according to an FHP report.
