OLDSMAR — The body of a 25-year-old man was found hours after he jumped off a boat dock on Wednesday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies responded to the dock about 6:15 a.m. after receiving reports that Anthony Norton of Palm Harbor was in the water near National Orange Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard.

The Sheriff's Office marine and flight units, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission searched the waters. They found his body just before 9 a.m., the Sheriff's Office said.

Witnesses told investigators Norton intentionally jumped into the water. His family gathered near the boat dock Wednesday morning, but declined comment.

An investigation remained under way.
